Organizational Information

Vision:
"A Healthy Ashe County shows value for all by providing a social, physical, economic, emotional and spiritual environment that supports health, healing, and happiness through open, active, collaborative communication with all its people.”

Guiding Goals:

  • join public and private resources in solutions to health care problems.
  • involve the community in community health-care planning.
  • target education to meet needs.
  • address total health, not just disease.
  • identify and focus on preventive health care needs.

General Strategies:

  • Provide a forum for citizens, community agencies, groups and business to identify the health issues of Ashe County and to seek solutions for these needs.
  • Promote collaboration and involvement of consortium members and the community at large in health-related projects.
  • Serve as a resource for community agencies, groups and businesses in the implementation of health related topics.
  • Implement and facilitate programs designed by the ACHC committees that address Healthy Carolinians Objectives.
  • Encourage an open membership to promote agency, business, community, and student organizational interest in identified health issues.
  • Serve as a resource for community grant proposal development.
  • Seek funding for the ACHC and its projects.
  • Provide for ongoing evaluation of the ACHC goals and objectives.

Membership Criteria:

  1. Inclusive membership, anyone living or working in Ashe County, who agrees withthe ACHC Mission Statement and is committed to work toward that mission.
  2. Members may commit to serve as resource persons available to disseminate information and contribute their expertise when needed or help with one time projects.
  3. Members may commit to continue to receive information on activities which they will communicate to their neighbors.
  4. The "open door" membership policy includes the understanding that anyone who comes to a meeting may vote.
